Dr. Alba Diz-Muñoz – European Molecular Biology Laboratory (Heidelberg, Germany)
Alba Diz-Munoz is the research group leader at European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) under the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit in Heidelberg, Germany. Her prolific research journey began at the Max Plank Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics where she obtained her PhD and subsequently conducted her postdoctoral research in protrusion dynamics in cell migration. Following this, she continued her research in UC Berkeley where she focused on the role of membrane tension in chemotaxis. Now she is the head of her own research group in EMBL and her lab studies how mechanics at the cell periphery govern function, with a focus on morphogenesis, migration, and fate in animal cells.
